Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important representative commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
